Living With Art: Architectural Digest España at ARCO Madrid

One of the highlights of our ARCOmadrid experience was “Vivir Con Arte” - the immersive booth hosted by AD España in collaboration with Massimo Dutti and some of the most exciting contemporary artists of 2022.

Now in its eighth year, the project invites the general public to enter the world of AD España, bringing the magazine to life through installations that resemble life-size magazine covers. Vivir Con Arte brings art and design to the fore, in a way that has never been done before.

One of the most anticipated stands at this year’s fair, the 3 XXL covers were produced by Cano Estudio and designed by Ana Arana and Enrique Ventosa of Studio Plutarco, Majorcan artist Adriana Meunié and architect and designer Teresa Sapey (all hand-selected from the AD100 list).

Plutarco

Ana Arana and Enrique Ventosa of Plutarco Studio in Madrid are known for making bold, creative choices and daring to be different. Their life-size cover aims to capture the essence of an outdoor space indoors, using a mix of colour, iconic pieces and their own objects. The glossy background paint echoes the reflections of the natural world and the stained wood and stoneware tiles all bring natural colours and textures.

The space also includes a Muller van Severen lamp, floral creation by Metatopy, marble table of their own design and the artwork Detenido (2021) by Beatriz Olano.

Adriana Meunié

Based in Mallorca, artist Adriana Meunié blurs the barriers between art, design and even time. Using elements based in traditional crafts using raw materials such as wool and wood, her work provides a nod to Spain’s cultural past.

Her life-size cover features a wool tapestry designed by herself, a ceramic sculpture by Xavier Mañosa and an almond wood bench designed by Jaume Roig.

Theresa Sapey

Madrid-based Italian designer and architect Teresa Sapey is known for her colourful projects bursting with energy and vitality.

Her life-size cover is a multidimensional ode to the surreal, with only half a bedroom reflected in coloured mirrors. The playful furniture includes bespoke pieces by her own studio and items by Kave Home, Kartell and Marset. The space is completed with a diptych by Gabriela Bettini.

Alongside the ARCOmadrid booth, the collaboration between AD España and Massimo Dutti extends to the window of their flagship store on Calle Serrano in Madrid, which has also been dressed by artists Adriana Meunié and Jaume Roig.
